Bag of Chips (For Inspiration)

Ayday-BagChip2-webOK, we are less than a week away from Christmas and today is officially the first day of winter!  I have been super busy getting ready.  In addition to shopping for gifts, I typically make many of my gifts.  This year, I am extremely “make heavy.”  Virtually zero shopping for new items.  For me, there is something special about taking time to create a gift with my own hands.  Of course it is hard to beat a brand new shiny Hashitashi 3000.  But, handmade gifts are a different kind of special.

Now, let me say this.  Not all handmade gifts are created equal and handmade gifts are not for everyone.  So, with all of my creations – I carefully pick and choose who gets what.  One of my goals when creating a gift by hand is that it should surprise people that it was done by hand.  It should look handmade not homemade.  When a handmade gift is revealed the response should be “Really? How wonderful!”  and not “Really? how wonder…uh, what is it?”  All I am saying is that handmade gifts should be made with care, quality materials and of course lots of love.

These Bags of Chips are meant to be little doses of inspiration for the recipient.  I found some affirmations on line, and wrote a few of my own.  Then I typed them up and printed them out onto cardstock.  What makes this gift really fun are the wooden nickels that were used.  They make a nice clicking sound when the bag is shaken.  Speaking of bags, I actually pulled out my sewing machine to create the little burlap sack.  It wasn’t difficult and it gave me an opportunity to practice my very novice sewing skills.  I am the straight stitch queen!

Thanks for looking and check out the video tutorial if you want to see how they were made.

Exactly Lisa. Although, I’m not mad at an actual bag of chips either.
