Purple Hearts Valentine’s Card (Upcycled)

VdayScrapsCard-3aHave you ever purchased something and thought the packaging was really cool?  Well, that happens to me all the time (which pretty much explains my stash of flattened Godiva and Patron boxes…or does it?).  Recently I bought some paper/washi tape and I liked the pattern on the packages.

So, I decided to use them to make a card.  It was so simple and fun to do.   This type of upcyling is good for cards, home dec, art journals and other mixed media projects.  I would proceed with caution when attempting to use recycled materials in a scrapbook layout, it is likely that the materials are not archival quality and could potentially damage your photos.

This card came together quickly.  What I like most about it is the color – which made me realize that I barely have any purple in my supplies.  Hmm, maybe it is time for another shopping trip.

Useful tips to “upcycle” and at the same time create a beautiful project. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Lisa! When I was deciding to make it, my first thought was “do you really need to be saving packaging – you already have enough paper scraps?!” But I couldn’t resist. LOL!
